MORE: Councilman Rey Saldaña invites the community to explore the importance of animal welfare in building a compassionate city. Join him at Cortez Branch Library on Saturday, May 12 to learn more about responsible pet ownership and the importance of lending your voice to those that cannot speak for themselves.
Visitors will enjoy a special animal-themed story time, color their own cut-out dog to add to the District Four "dog park", learn how to make DIY dog toys, and more!
A number of community partners including Animal Care Services, SNAPUS (spay and neuter assistance), San Antonio Feral Cats, SA Pets Alive, and Canine Companions for Independence will also be onsite to offer more information about community resources.
Our Family Reads: The Mayor’s Book Club was created by Mayor Ron Nirenberg to encourage families in the community to read along with him and members of City Council about some of their favorite topics, and to cultivate a community experience.
This month, check out books for family members of all ages, fiction and nonfiction, that focus on animal welfare. Visit guides.mysapl.org/mayorron for a list of book suggestions and to learn more about upcoming topics. Visit mysapl.org or call 210-207-2500 for a complete schedule of programs.
