San Antonio Public Library and SAHA Team up to Bring the Book-Rich Environment Initiative to San Antonio Families

In its continued effort to enrich quality of life for its residents, The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) and the San Antonio Public Library, in cooperation with the local U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) office, will host a unique event on Friday, July 28, 10 a.m. at the Bazan Branch Library. The event is aimed at encouraging literacy, promoting positive educational outcomes, and instilling a love of reading among children and families living in public housing communities across San Antonio. This marks the first of many events planned in response to SAHA’s participation in the national Book-Rich Environment (BRE) Initiative, led in partnership by the National Book Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, HUD, the Urban Library Council and the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading.

San Antonio Public Library Launches New Podcast to Connect Community to Library Resources

Staff-hosted podcast “Tuned In” offers behind-the-scenes insight into the San Antonio Public Library

The San Antonio Public Library invites the community to have a listen to their newly released staff-hosted podcast “Tuned In”.

“Tuned In” offers an engaging and unique look into the inner-workings of the San Antonio Public Library. Reference staff at the Central Library host this fun and informative show about topics ranging from library jargon to popular Library resources, to the ongoing debate of eBooks vs. paper books. The hosts wanted to create a fun way to answer common questions that library patrons have, like what it means when a book is “in-transit”, or what the difference is between a database and a search engine.
