The film tells the story of thousands of European Jews who sailed to Mexico in the early twentieth century and provides insights into the experiences of the local pioneers who established the Jewish community in the region. Artenstein will also show previews of his recent work documenting Jewish communities in the US Southwest. Refreshments and a question and answer session will follow.

The Holocaust: Learn & Remember is a yearly commemoration and remembrance of the Holocaust. With this special commemoration, the San Antonio Public Library hopes to enlighten and educate the community with a series of programs that promote tolerance and help our community understand the importance of acceptance. The 2017 theme Refuge in the Americas focuses on the thousands of Holocaust survivors who fled to and settled in Central and South America.
