March 6 is Primary Election day in Texas. Men and women from around the state will go to the polls to select candidates for the General Election in November. Today, is a good day to remember, however, that wasn't until 1920 that the 19th amendment to the US Constitution guaranteed women the right to vote.
Nell Richardson and Alice Burke drove over 10,000 miles over bumpy, muddy, unmapped roads in order to spread the word -- Votes for Women. It was a daring and dangerous journey reported in newspapers from New York to California. You can read the interesting but little known story of these two suffragists and their little yellow car in Around America to Win the Vote.
